Lets talk about it. For all you new self-published Authors do you find this stigma is hard to get past?
How about being able to join Literacy groups? Some tell us we can only sign up as an Associate member or Friend. The only way to be a full member is to be a published Author through a traditional publishing company.
Good news though from The Writer's Union of Canada. In a unanimous vote, TWUC members approved a resolution to admit professional, self-published authors to the Union. This is a big step in the future of self-published writers.
"The resolution allows for self-published books as professional credit toward membership, as long as three important criteria are met. Self-published books presented by authors applying to join the Union must contain an International Standard Book Number (ISBN), must demonstrate commercial intent, and must be peer reviewed before being forwarded to the membership committee of the Union for approval based on existing criteria." On my website you can check out Patches the Giraffe, my Mascot, and the other tabs available for your viewing.
Hi I'm Patches...
I am excited to tell you all that my book has already found many happy homes to go to in Canada, United States, Germany, Japan, Belize, and Barbados.
Christmas is not all that far away and books for children are a great gift that they do not tire of. It also enriches family time as you sit and read with your child, grandchild, niece or nephew. It is a great gift basket item; something a mom-to-be might appreciate, or simply a nice treat to add this heartwarming story to your child's book collection.
About the book:
It all started when Daddy got Lily a special surprise. Everyone loves surprises, right? So when Lily makes her father a surprise birthday supper it turns out to be more of surprise then what she had expected.
Plump, juicy, sweet raisins are usually in cookies, muffins and tarts but in meatloaf?
How are Daddy's and Lily's surprises connected? You will have to read my book to find out. I think you will be—surprised.
