We were at Sea all day on June 13th. This night we went to see NCL's "Hot White Dance Party" that this cruise line is known for. You are to wear as much white clothes as possible. With black lights your clothes glow while dancing on the dance floor. It was very cool to see. We dressed in white and enjoyed the event. Music was great. Neil is not able to boogie quite yet, and due to the floor being very crowded with dancers, we did not want to chance him being bumped and hurt so sat out and just listened and watched which was in itself entertaining. Next time for sure we will be out there burning up the floor.
June 14th we docked in Split, Croatia. At this location any people going ashore had to be tendered into the dock by means of a tender (enclosed boat that holds about 96 people). Once on shore we found our bus tour guide and left for Trogir, a medieval town, and an open market place. There was some good shopping here.
Have to share with all of you that by "pure accident" we found out where Santa Claus hangs out in the summer time while on vacation - he's here in Split! Don't believe me?...see for yourself in the pictures I took below. Note that he is wearing sandals, lol.
Later we were taken to a near by Beach where we thoroughly enjoyed the warm clear Sea water and lying in the sun soaking up the rays.
Split seemed to be a nice town with newer homes than in Dubrovnik. Lots of open space and greenery. The big topic of conversation here is that on July 1st Croatia will be joining the EU (European Union). This means that in Croatia they will be converting their money to the Euro. There is mixed feelings about this with the local people. We managed to get some Croatian "Kuna" coins.
After an enjoyable day, we returned to the ship. This was to be our last night onboard and the crew had a lot planned for the evening events. Dinner was wonderful, and following that we attended the final live show called "Elements". This was actually their premier performance and it was OUTSTANDING!!!! If you get the chance to cruise and see this show, I highly recommend it. They got a standing ovation, cheers, and bravos for a solid 5 minutes. Afterwards, Neil and I went to one of the many lounges and enjoyed the piano playing of a fellow from Toronto, Ontario, who was originally born in Latvia. Following all of this...they had the nerve to host a Chocoholic Buffet! Of course everyone was there! It was like opening a bar to Alcoholics. No charge of course, which is why cruising is so great!
Bags packed and ready to disembark early the next morning to continue with our adventure as we head to Germany.
