Last night we had a great get together and Bon Voyage dinner with our children and grandchildren. They're the best! Too excited to sleep we were up till 1:30 am and then got up at 4:30 am. Our puppies were so happy to see us and Melinda's puppies enjoyed the extra laps and snuggles as well.
Our taxi arrived at 7:00 am and we were off to the airport. Getting here super early paid off. We were first in line at the check-in counter and then going through customs was a breeze, no line up at all. Very unusual. Of course we had to go through US customs, so even with wearing just sandals we had to take them off. Neil can't bend down yet so I had to take them off for him and help to put them back on later. We now know the airport floors are cold as we walked through in our bare feet, lol. From here we went to Tim Horton's to get a tea and coffee. Neil says he wants to have an espresso when we get to Rome. He is just giddy about our trip starting and I can't wait to step off the plane in Rome.
I have heard so much about these very long flights so am eager to experience it for myself. We are flying Executive Class and used our Aeroplan points towards this. With my backpack on and our Euro's and passports in hand we are anxiously awaiting to board the plane. First stop Chicago, USA, then we fly to Munich, Germany and then onto Rome, Italy. We will arrive tomorrow May 28th at 1:30 pm Europe time, approx. 6:30 am Calgary time.
Talk to you next from Rome, big smiles!
