Shortly afterwards we landed in Munich, Germany. Caught our next connection on Lufthansa to Rome. Unfortunately, it was about 3 am our time so we were slowing down as we were tired. At the Airport in Rome we were greeted by a driver from our hotel "The Rose Garden Palace". It was an awesome drive. Neil got excited when he saw an Ancient Roman Aqueduct. Then we drove by the Colosseum and other wondrous ancient figures and works of art. The streets have parking on both sides and this leaves barely enough room for one car to drive up the centre of the road. Most of roads are cobble style and very narrow. Weather is great by the way, not too hot. I think we have come at a good time of year.
We arrived, got checked-in, showered and slept for 3 hours then got up and went for a spectacular supper. The chef out did himself. These people over here know how to eat! Neil had a Greek salad, not like one you buy in Canada, and it was delicious. The entrée, beef wrapped in bacon and filled with truffles and sauce was mouth watering. My first time eating truffles and I love them. Every dish was a creation on your plate that they took pride in making and serving. I felt honoured to be the guest. Now if only Gordon Ramsay had been there... I saved a tea bag to bring home as I have not seen this one before and want to try it. Twinings of London "Prince Of Wales". On the top of the package it says: By Appointment To Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Tea & Coffee Merchants Twinings And Company Limited London.
After a brief bit of exercise to wear off dinner, we both are now heading to bed. I know we will have much more energy tomorrow. Those long flights really do take it out of you. Night all...Tori
